How shipping works

Last updated July 8, 2026

The short version

The seller sets a flat shipping price for each item (or offers free shipping). You see it before you pay, the buyer pays it on top of the item price, and it goes to the seller in full. We hold all the money until the buyer confirms the item arrived. Prefer no shipping at all? Many items offer a local meetup instead.

For buyers

  • The price you see is the price you pay.Item price plus the listed shipping (or “Ships free”), shown on the listing, the buy button, and your cart before Stripe ever appears.
  • Your money is protected. We hold the funds and only release them to the seller after you confirm delivery in your dashboard. If it never arrives or isn't as described, our Refund Policy has your back: report it within 7 days.
  • Confirming delivery matters. That click is what pays your fellow teacher, so open the box, check it over, and confirm.

For sellers

  • Set a shipping price that reflects what it actually costs you. The buyer pays it and it passes through to you in full; our fee applies to the item price only, never your shipping. Setting it honestly keeps your listing competitive and your payout fair. 0 means free shipping.
  • You ship it yourself, with the carrier you choose.reteach doesn't provide prepaid labels yet, so pack it well, ship it promptly (USPS Media Mail is often the cheap option for books), and keep your receipt. If we add labels later, this page will say so.
  • Mark it shipped in your dashboard, tracking number if you have it. That updates the buyer and starts the hand-off. Got the tracking number after the fact? Add it anytime from the same order row. You're paid out through Stripe after the buyer confirms delivery.

Bundles ship together

When a buyer bundles several items from your classroom shop, the whole bundle ships as one order and the buyer pays only the highest single item's shipping rate, not the sum. That discount is the reason to bundle: five books, one box, one shipping charge.

Questions teachers actually ask

Who pays for shipping? The buyer, at checkout, at the rate the seller set. It's never a surprise added later.

When does the seller get paid? After the buyer confirms delivery. The payout, including the full shipping amount, heads to the seller's bank through Stripe.

What if the package is lost? Buyers: report it from your order (or email support@reteachshop.com) and we'll sort it out with the seller. Unshipped orders are refunded in full.

Can I skip shipping entirely? Yes. Listings with local meetup enabled let you reserve the item with a card hold and pay only when you confirm the hand-off in person. See Meetup Safety.

Does reteach provide shipping labels? Not yet. Sellers ship with their own carrier and materials, then add the tracking number to the order so buyers can follow along. We'd rather tell you that plainly than surprise you at the post office.
